Book Review: Until You (Fall Away #1.5) by Penelope Douglas

I absolutely love when an author writes a companion novel from the male's POV. Some people are hesitant for fear that it will just be a regurgitation of the first book, but I promise you that is not the case with Until You. In this book, we finally get inside of Jared's complex head to find out what motivated him to be so cruel to Tate for so long. He pissed me off so much in Bully and he finally got the redemption I don't feel he had gotten or earned by the end of the first book. Getting a first hand account of what went down the summer he spent with his father was heartbreaking. The new insight that we get into Jared helped me to understand why he did what he did. I am not saying I agree with his actions, because I definitely don't, but I get it. There are points where you can tell he doesn't really like hurting Tate, or when we can sense a hint of regret, but he can't stop himself.

I found Until You to be a bit steamier than Bully, and more steam is always a huge plus in my book. It is expected to have a bit more focus on sex, we are in the head of a teenage boy after all. And all of the sex scenes that we have already experienced through Tate's eyes are ten times more sexy from Jared's perspective. Oh so hot.

I was throbbing so hard. I needed to get inside of her, but I damn well gave a fuck about Tate, and I wasn't going to take her. i wanted her coming back for seconds, thirds, and forever.

Book Review: Bully (Fall Away #1) by Penelope Douglas

Tate and Jared used to be best friends. They loved each other - or at least she though they did. Then when they were 14 everything changed. Jared went from a loving friend to a bully for no apparent reason. He made it his mission in life to ruin high school for Tate. She got a brief reprieve from his torture for year, studying abroad in Europe. Now that she is back, she wonders if Jared will go back to tormenting her or if maybe he has forgotten all about her and moved on. Regardless of what his plans are, Tate vows to herself to not let him ruin her Senior year. If he is going to pick up where he left of, then this time she will fight back.

I was so hesitant to read this  book because the idea of falling for your bully kind of annoyed me. But after reading so many great things about it, I decided to give it a shot. Let me tell you, I am so glad that I did! Tate - my heart broke for her repeatedly for everything she endured at the hands of Jared. I mean, how much can one teenage girl take before she breaks? But Tate is too strong for that. She took a much needed time out from Life with Jared and came back from Europe and more self confident young woman. The Tate that came back home for her Senior year had a lot more attitude and was finally ready to stand up to him.

And then there is Jared. Sigh. How I hated him through the majority of this book. And I'm not talking about a little hate, but full blown, I want to throttle you hatred. When Tate give her monologue in class and it is clear that Jared is emotionally affected by it, I realized there was a world of pain hidden beneath the bully veneer. At that point I started to forgive him and I want them to rebuild what once was an amazing friendship.

Book Review: Pieces For You (For You #2) by Genna Rulon

Samantha (Sam) Whitney was the victim of a brutal rape and beating at the hands of a sociopath.. Nearly six months later, she needs to learn how to move from just surviving to living again. Sam knows she will never be the same girl that she was before the attack, but she hopes the new Sam can be just as good. Griffin Evenson has loved Sam from a distance for two years, but he was waiting to make his move. His biggest regret was not going for her sooner therefor not  being able to protect her. He vows to never let anything happen to her again while taking his time building a relationship with Sam.

While Same never thought of him as more than a friend, it is pretty hard to ignore the new, bulked up Griffin. The connection they have is sweet and intense but so much more than physical attraction. And most importantly, Sam trusts Griffin, which isn't an easy thing for her. But as she picks up the pieces of her life and tries to glue them back together, will she be able to let a man all the way into her heart? Does she even think she deserves it?

I already loved Griffin by the end of the first book. He was my unsung hero who also happens to be a hot, guitar playing, singing sweetheart. It was obvious even then how much he cared for Sam. Then Genna Rulon had to go and make him even hotter. The months that Sam was away, Griffin spent taking his frustration out at the gym. So now he is a massive, 8-pack toting, guitar playing sweetheart. Is she trying to kill me? Seriously, all that is missing is a sexy tattoo and I would have hopped on the train to New York searching for Griffin to keep for myself. He is beyond patient with Sam as she tries to rebuild herself and takes things slow for her.

Book Review: Wild by Adriane Leigh

Kat is running from a past that she would love to forget. She figures that the small town of Rock Island, Maine is a good place to start over. She's not looking for a relationship but one night with Wild thwarts her plans. Lane Wild usually doesn't go back for more than seconds with a girl, but there is something about Kat that he is addicted to and he can't get enough of her. They agree to a no strings, friends with benefits "relationship" but they don't realize how quickly they are getting under each other's skin. Can they both shove aside their demons and open up to something more? Or will Kat's past catch up with her and destroy the new life she has started to build?

Sometimes a girl just needs a fun, smutty and well, wild, read and that is exactly what author Adriane Leigh provided. Yes there is some angst and emotion and even a good dose of suspense. But what Wild is overflowing with is hot, dirty, smutty sex. And I loved every damn minute of it. Lane Wild has a filthy mouth and a cocky smirk and really, how can a girl not fall for that? This book delivered just what I needed and I'm looking forward to Ridge's story next. This was the first time I've read anything by Adriane Leigh and after spending time with this smuttastic book, I plan on reading all of her past novels as well.

Book Review: Fall Into Me (Heart of Stone #2) by K.M. Scott

A car accident has left Nina Edwards with no memory of the last four years. She has no recollection of her father's death, how she met Tristan Stone, how they fell in love or of the secrets that he kept from her. Tristan spends the weeks after Nina's accident showing her how much he loves her, how much they love each other, while also investigating what information her father had uncovered. It doesn't take long for Nina to fall in love with him all over again, despite the memory loss. I was not Tristan's biggest fan in the first book, because of that heart of stone of his. Here we finally get to see a softer side to Tristan. But when he finally discovers everything Nina's father figured out four years earlier, it shatters him and those walls start getting thrown back up.

Tristan knows it is only a matter of time before Nina's memory returns and she remembers the secret he kept. While he know he should tell her before that happens, he just can't bring himself to do it. Will she run from him like she did the first time?

While I enjoyed Crash Into Me, Fall Into Me was just so much better. I felt like the author really grew leaps and bounds and put forward a more well rounded, developed story. I went from not particularly liking either character to loving them both. I could feel their happiness and their pain, especially Tristan's. Fall Into Me is filled with love and passion, pain and betrayal and even some suspense and  it has left me desperate for the final book!

Review
Hope let her sister, Audrey, talk her into attending a week long wedding event. Why she agreed, she has no idea. Audrey thinks that Hope needs to live a little and be wild. Maybe even have a vacation fling. But Hope is perfectly content hiding in her hotel room with a good book, even though on some level she knows her sister is right. When she literally stumbles into sexy army helicopter pilot Jack, she thinks maybe she should go for that fling after all.

Staying at the same hotel to attend their mutual friends' wedding, they spend the next few days learning about each other's lives and bodies. It's clear that they already care deeply for one another, but Jack's redeployment looms over them like an ugly black cloud. When Jack sets off back to war, Hope fears that she will never see or hear from him again?

This was such a sweet holiday read filled with the spice that I love from Sawyer Bennett. Hope is a bit of an introvert, much like myself, and I can totally relate to the comfort she finds in playing it safe. She can't help but be drawn to Jack and the few days they spend together are filled with tenderness and passion. I was surprised with Jack and how he acted after their time together and I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see if they would meet again. Definitely a great holiday story!

Book Review: Gabriel's Redemption (Gabriel’s Inferno #3) by Sylvain Reynard

Gabriel's Inferno and Gabriel's Rapture were the first books I read after completing the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy and I loved them. I mean 5 star, head over heals in love with them and Professor Emerson! When I heard that there was going to be a third book, I was of course excited. That being said, I didn't love Gabriel's Redemption. I certainly liked it, but not how i did the first two books.

The book starts 6 months after Julia and Gabriel are married. He is a professor at Boston University and she is a graduate student at Harvard. Julia is under a lost of pressure and stress in her program and couple that with being newlyweds and discovering how to live with one another and there is bit of conflict between the two. Gabriel wants what he wants when he wants it and he has to learn that this is not how a marriage works. He wants a baby but the thought of children add another level of stress to Julia. While she does want a baby some day, she understandably wants to wait till she is finished with school. This topic is a reoccurring issue throughout the book but if they would just truly listen to each other, it wouldn't need to be.

Both Gabriel and Julia have very similar self worth issues to work on and they try to help each other through that. It was also really good to see a softer side to Gabriel. He still has a tendency to to lose his temper and go all caveman but you can see that he is really trying to work on that.
