Book Review: Third Debt (Indebted #4) by Pepper Winters #Giveaway

What the hell just happened!?! OMG I am still processing it all and I just can't believe it. This sat on my Kindle for over a week before I worked up the courage to even think about opening it. Dear God my emotions went through the ringer during the course of this book and I'm not sure I will ever recover.

I started Third Debt nervous as all get out and that quickly changed to scared and from there down right petrified and then sad and happy and sad again. And now with that cliffy I am just beyond horrified. I don't think there is even a word to describe how I feel. Where the hell do they go from here?

Indebted is my first series by Pepper Winters and I swear each book gets better and better. This one completely ripped out my insides and splattered them all around. I only hope I can put the pieces back together again. The wait for the next installment is going to be pure agony.

Oh look, I did find the word to describe my feelings after all. Agony. But oh my was it worth every single ounce of pain.

Book Review: Grind (Legal Affairs: Cal & Macy #2) by Sawyer Bennett #Giveaway

Some times you read an ARC and you think "Wow, that was pretty good. People should read it." And then other times you finish reading and you think "OMFG! That was amazing! Everyone needs to read this! Why oh why isn't it out yet so the world can know it's awesomeness!?!" That is what happened when I read Grind. Lucky for you all it is out now so you don't have to wait and trust me, you want to read this series. This book took two of my favorite things: 1. Sawyer Bennett and 2. a crazy hot sexual fantasy and put them together so perfectly. I mean I literally had to stop at the end of this particular scene and walk away from my Kindle to cool down. So good.

There are many great things going on in this second installment of Cal and Macy's story, but the only thing my brain can focus on is the hottest Sawyer Bennett sex scene ever. Wow, just wow. But in all honesty, it isn't just the sexy times that makes me love this book, but watching these two slowly growing closer. They make me laugh and but also the pain that Macy is clearly struggling with chokes me. It is palpable and I keep wondering in my mind what exactly it is that she went though.

Then there is Cal who is just amazing. Loyal, sweet and even a bit kinky - seriously the perfect package. I mean, he is no Matt Fucking Connover, but damn is he close.

We are left on the brink of something huge and I can't wait to see what happens next! I absolutely love this series. L.O.V.E.

Excerpt Reveal: Third Debt (Indebted #4) by Pepper Winters

Two Months Prior...

Jethro

I MEANT WHAT I said before.
I meant it with every bone in my body.
Someone has to die.
I still stood by that conclusion. Only, I’d hoped it wouldn’t be me.
Too bad wishes never come true.
I’d always wondered what it would feel like. How I would react, knowing that I’d failed. I’d lain awake so many nights trying to imagine how I would behave when my father finally had enough. I’d scared myself shitless fearing I wouldn’t be strong enough, brave enough, to face the consequences I’d lived with all my life.
But none of that mattered now. I’d done what I swore never to do and revealed myself. My father knew there was no changing me—he would come for me.
But so fucking what?
She’s safe.
That was all I needed to focus on.
I’d done my utmost to be the perfect son, but I’d been fighting an unwinnable battle. No matter how much I wished I could be like them—I wasn’t. And it was pointless to keep fighting.
Not anymore.  I’m done.

Book Review: Shadows and Lies by Eden Butler #Giveaway

Eden Butler is a new to me author who I first got a taste of with the prequel to this book, Swimming in Shadows, which appears in the Night Shift Anthology. As soon as I finished that short novella I absolutely knew that I needed to read the rest of this series.

Former Navy SEAL and previous cop Neil Ryan is on a mission to solve the mystery surrounding his mother's murder. But it seems like every turn he takes leads him to another dead end. Until he meets Alex Black. Again. Alex has been a thief and cheat since she was a kid, it was the only way for her to survive. What could a goody goody boy scout and a grifter have in common? More than they could have imagined and now Alex may be the only key to Ryan getting some answers.

So before this book even starts, Ms. Butler gives her readers a warning that there are less sexy times in this than in her previous books. Being that I am new to her writing that did not deter me and I must say that this made little difference to me because the story gripped me from start to finish. There is just so much going on and so many lies and mysteries to solve that your brain just does not get a rest. Add in a bucket load of sexual tension between Alex and Ryan and just... wow.

Book Review: Beautiful Secret (Beautiful Bastard #4) by Christina Lauren

Ruby Miller has been in love with Niall Stella from afar for months. Although they work together, he doesn't even know she exists. Until he does. And now that he is paying attention, she is all he sees. A business trip puts them together every day and the pull to each other is impossible to ignore.

Sweet, sweet Niall. I understand why Ruby loves you so because I love you too. He is not the typical man we have seen in previous books in this series or in other romance books out there these days. You know, the cocky manwhore type, which admittedly I enjoy, but Niall is the complete opposite. And let me tell you what a breath of fresh air he was.

Recently divorced after 11 years of emotionless and passionless marriage, Niall is a bit gun shy. Ruby, on the other hand, is very open with her thoughts and desires, which really throws him for a loop. It is just not something he is use too. But he is drawn to her like no one else and knows he has to open up more if they are to give it a go. I loved his shyness and awkwardness and lack of confidence and Ruby did a splendid job of drawing him out of his shell. It was a long process but a damn delicious one.

Book Review: Forever You're Mine (MINE #4) by K. Langston

Oh Cannon. Sexy, beautiful, damaged Cannon. I've been anxiously awaiting his arrival for what seems like forever, and now that he is finally here I am both elated and depressed. Thrilled to be able to read his story but sad because now I have nothing to look forward to. Sigh.

Former Navy SEAL Cannon Jacobs has demons that keep him distant from everyone. He uses women to numb the pain. Lots of women. But when the sweet blonde refuses his advances, they vow to be friends instead. Cora Daniels doesn't have the best family background. Her junkie mom has never shown her any love, but she refuses to end up like her. She cherishes her friendship with Cannon, but she'd be lying if she said she didn't want him. Can they cross the line from friends to lovers without losing what they have?

God I loved this story. Life might have thrown a lot of shit at Cora, t she is strong and determined to persevere. She loves Cannon but is patient with him and getting him to finally open up. Smart girl. Cannon is understandably broken, but maybe it is time he fix himself up. He has never wanted more than sex from a woman, but he wants everything from Cora. I absolutely loved how dedicated he was to her and making them work. I mean he is sexy enough already, but that true and utter devotion to his girl just takes him over the damn top.

Book Review: The Exposé (The Exposé #1) by Roxy Sloane

Aspiring journalist Zoe Warren can't find a journalism job to save her life. She knows to get her foot in any door, she needs a big juicy story and she has an idea on how to get it: by getting a job as a hostess at the hottest sex club in NYC. She'll get in, get the scoop and run and expose that will get her name on the map. Except there is a problem standing in her way. A big, sexy problem in the form of club owner Dax Ryan. Dax is a bit suspicious of his new hostess and vows to keep a close eye on here. Or tongue as it may be. With him watching her every move, will he uncover her true motive for working at his club?

Dear lord I swear Roxy Sloane writes the sexiest men on the planet. We have another delicious dirty talker in Dax and I'm already addicted to him. This short novella was merely a morsel to wet the appetite for this story and boy am I hooked! Which comes as no surprise as I love everything this woman writes. This had a lot of sexy and a bit of intrigue and I can't wait for the next installment!

Book Review: Clash (Legal Affairs: Cal & Macy #1) by Sawyer Bennett

Cal and Macy. Macy and Cal. When I read the original Legal Affairs serial last year, I never even imagined these two together. But dear God I think they are going to be perfect. Just a short way into their story and I am already completely hooked.

Cal has made some mistakes in his life, but ultimately he is a good guy. And a hot one. He and Macy clash together rather violently. They tolerate each other for their mutual friend Mac's sake, but just barely. It is mostly snide jabs between them. But you know the saying - love - hate - thin lines and all that. Well Cal and Macy burn that line to the damn ground.

We get a little glimpse into Macy's background, just barely a taste to make us curious, and I am anxious to learn all the details of why she is the way she is. From what I can gather so far, it is going to be ugly and painful. Frankly I am a bit scared.

Book Review: Full Contact (Redemption #3) by Sarah Castille

Events in both Sia and Ray's lives have shaped who they are today and how they approach relationships. They are both hesitant to get too involved, but for different reasons. Ray doesn't ever want to feel the pain of loss again and Sia finds it hard to trust in anyone. Can these two broken souls find love and solace in each other?

I love me some hot, alpha MMA fighters and few write them better than Sarah Castille. In fact, the first book in the Redemption series, Against the Ropes, was my first ever MMA romance and I have been hooked ever since. (On a side note, we get a few appearances from Torment in here and dear God how I still love that man). Ray, a.k.a. The Predator, fights with a crazed possession in the ring, and well, he is the same way in the bedroom. Both are a thing of beauty. I loved how Ray was often very caveman like in his conversations, which I found both funny and endearing. I was obvious he cared for Sia, but he had some secrets holding him back and I wanted to knock him around a bit so he made up his mind.
