Book Review: Beautiful Player (Beautiful Bastard #3) by Christina Lauren
Hanna "Ziggy" Bergstrom is a 24 year old graduate student in New York City and she has completely immersed herself in school and research, leaving little time for a social life. Scratch that; she has zero social life. So her big brother Jensen decides to stage an interventions and tells her she needs to start living. His big plan is for her to contact his best friend Will who lives close by in NYC.
Will Sumner has been a player since he discovered sex as a young teenager. He doesn't think that is a bad thing. His lovers know the score: he is not looking for anything more than just sex and he has multiple lovers scheduled for specific days of the week. (Um, ew!) Lately, however, his arrangements aren't satisfying him like they once did.
When his best friend asks him to help his baby sister get into the social scene, Will is happy to oblige. After all, The Bergstrom's have been like a second family to him. But he is expecting the awkward "Ziggy" that he knew 12 years ago, not the beautiful woman standing in front of him.

Book Review: Unconventional Fling by Allyson Lindt
Jade's job has her traveling the majority of the time, which makes relationships difficult. Men she has attempted to date in the past eventually can't handle all of her time away. So maybe just having a little fun is what she needs. Brandon is the voice behind popular anime characters which often has him traveling to various conventions. His good looks and flirtations have unfortunately left him with an undeserved "love em and leave em" reputation. When these two meet at the hotel breakfast one morning, it is instant chemistry and they look to have some fling fun.
Brandon realizes that he wants more than just a few hours with Jade, but she doesn't see how that is possible with both of them constantly on the go. Can they navigate their heavy travel schedules and actually have a real relationship?
This is my third book by Allyson Lindt and I have really enjoyed them all. What I love the most about all of her stories is that she uses geeks as her heroes/heroines. And dammit, I'm glad someone realizes that us geeks can be sexy too! I really got a kick out of Unconventional Fling as it starts off at an anime convention. As someone that goes to New York Comic Con ever year (in 2012 I dressed up as Black Widow and my 4 boys as other Avengers characters), I could totally picture the scene in my head. This was a quick, fun and sexy novella and I will continue to look forward to more books from this author.

Book Review: Take Me Home For Christmas (Whiskey Creek #5) by Brenda Novak
Sophia DeBussi hasn't been all that nice to the people of Whiskey Creek. In high school she was the mean girl. The spoiled, rich, gets whatever she wants girl. Thirteen years ago, she broke Ted Dixon's heart when she married Skip DeBussi. She has since continued to live in the lap of luxury; or so everyone believes. On the outside her life looks perfect: rich husband, huge house, fancy cars, designer clothes, etc. But what no one sees is the verbally, emotionally and physically abusive husband that has pushed her to depression and alcoholism. Then while on their anniversary vacation with their daughter, Skip mysteriously disappears. Part of her is concerned while the other part is relived he is gone. But her world comes crashing down around her when the FBI informs her that Skip is wanted for fraud and then his body washes up on the shores of Brazil. Her "loving" husband and left her and their daughter with literally nothing except a town full of angry people he robbed. How can she get herself back on her feet when everyone hates her.
Ted still hasn't forgiven Sophia for what she did to him over a decade ago. At first he doesn't give a damn about what she is going through now. But when he sees everyone in town ganging up on her, he feels like he has to do something. He might still be angry, but he isn't heartless. So when no ones steps up to help her, he offers her a job as his housekeeper and assistant. While she works for him, Ted starts to learn the truth about her marriage and sees just how much she has changed over the years. Can he finally forgive Sophia for breaking his heart and marrying another man? Can their reconnection go deeper than friendship and back to the deep love they once shared?

Release Day Blitz: Finding the Right Girl by Violet Duke
From the New York Times & USA Today bestselling author who brought you the Nice Girl to Love trilogy, comes A Nice GUY to Love spin-off...
Brian Sullivan has been in love twice in his lifetime. He lost his first love to early-onset Huntington’s, and he lost the other more recently…to his brother. And somehow, his heart has managed to heal itself after both. Amazingly, without therapy. That doesn’t mean he hasn’t gotten a bit more cautious, however. Lately, Brian’s been thinking that maybe his brother’s now retired nothing-but-flings rule isn’t such a bad idea after all. Unfortunately, as the unofficial nice guy poster boy, Brian isn’t exactly versed in the fine art of flings. So he looks to the outrageously ‘unique,’ inexplicably enigmatic, provokingly button-pushing Tessa Daniels for a crash course.
There’s absolutely no way he’s falling in love with this one...right?

Book Review: Only For You (For You #1) by Genna Rulon
Everleigh has just one semester of college left and she can't wait to finish and start with her coffee business. Unfortunately, a series of viscous attacks on the female students has everyone on edge. The attacks are getting worse and the police don't seem to have any leads. When Ev's best friend Sam signs them up for a school sponsored self defense class, she is reluctant but goes because she knows it is the smart thing to do. Then she lays eyes on the instructor.
Hunter is pure perfect of chiseled, sexy man. Ev's first encounter with him is a disaster, getting her thrown out of the self defense class. But when they see each other in classes later, their witty banter has Ev wanting him as a friend. As their friendship blossoms, Everleigh realizes how much she is starting to care for him, but Hunter insists they stay just friends. Why is he holding back from her? And as the attacks become more frequent and more violent, will the monster be caught before someone close to them gets hurt?
I have a difficult time believing this is author Genna Rulon's debut novel because it was just that good. She did a fantastic job of blending a serious and scary subject along with every day life and humor. Because the reality is that even when tragedy is going on around us we do have to continue on with our lives.

Book Review: Bold Tricks (The Artists Trilogy #3) by Karina Halle
Talk about an edge of your seat, nail biting, heart racing thrill ride! Bold Tricks was one hell of a finale! This picks up where Shooting Scars left off: with Javier, Ellie and Camden in a Jeep together fleeing from Travis and working "together." And I use the term together loosely because after everything we learned about Javier, there is no way I trust him.
What follows is a whirlwind adventure through Mexico and South America. It feels like wherever they go, Travis' men find them. And just when you think it has calmed down for a bit... BAM! everything goes to hell in the blink of an eye. As the not-so-friendly trio make their way to Travis' compound, you are constantly waiting for the other shoe to drop because there is this gut feeling that Javier is full of shit. Can they make it in time to rescue Gus and Ellie's mom? What is Javier really up to?
Meanwhile, Ellie and Camden have their own relationship problems to face. Camden is struggling with the fact that she slept with Javier and she is devastated knowing that she hurt him. What they once had truly seems to be over now, and it hurt me just as much as it hurt them. Even when they had insanely hot jungle sex, I feared that it was going to be the last time.

Book Review: Broken Ever After (The Ever After Trilogy #1) by Natalie Graham
Holy mother! I am still trying to pick my jaw and heart up off the floor! 18 year old Olivia Stevens has had a massive crush on her maths teacher, Jamie Matthews, for six excruciating years. With her final year of school coming to an end in just three weeks, she is sad that she won't see him again after that. Sad that they could never be together. Until one day in detention she realizes he has a crush on her too. After just one kiss the fire between them is scorching. But Olivia doesn't want to risk him being fired or being expelled, she puts a halt to the physical aspect of their relationship. They agree to wait to have sex till after prom, when school is officially over. Can they really keep their hands off each other for three weeks?
The first 2/3 of this book is incredibly sweet and sexy. I absolutely love Jamie - he is the perfect loving and attentive boyfriend. Those three weeks that they spent time getting to know each other was great to read. And not sleeping together was definitely a challenge I enjoyed. Their couple of "almosts" were so damn hot. Once prom arrives, everything starts going to shit for poor Olivia. They do end up getting a few days together and then tings get worse.
The last 1/3 of the book had me on my toes. Things seemed to be spiraling out of control. There is a threat to Olivia's life and I didn't know who to trust. I'd like to say things with her and Jamie were good, but they were far from it. And then Olivia makes some decisions that had me yelling at my Kindle. I kind of hated her for them. There are twists and turns toward the end that I somewhat anticipated but still left me shocked.

Book Review: More Than This (More #1) by Jay McLean
I love when a book takes me by surprise and More Than This certainly did that. Makayla Jones is at the end of her senior year of high school and things are going pretty great. She has been with her hunky boyfriend James for four years, she's got her best friend Megan by her side and they are all going to UNC together in the fall. But in just one night, everything she knows shatters.
Jake Andrews is a pretty big deal. Also a senior, he has a full baseball scholarship to UNC and there is no doubt he will go pro one day. When he sees the beautiful broken girl standing in front of him, he can't help but reach out to her and help take away some of the pain. When the night of betrayal also becomes a night of tragedy, he stands by her, holds her and does everything he can to get through the most difficult time in her life. But when a brand new friendship starts to become more, how will they know that what they feel is real and not just because of what they experienced together. After everything Makayla has been through, will she be able to love again? Or will she always be a broken little girl?

Book Review: Unexpected by Dulaney-Glen
Grace is a single mom of a 12 year old boy and owner of a successful record label in Nashville. She is wound a little too tight and according to her best friend Nina she is an "uptight tootie." Ian is young and handsome and just moved to Nashville with his friends: the band members of Queen City. He s drawn to Grace the minute he sees her at the gas station. Who knew the beautiful stranger was also his new boss?
The attraction between Grace and Ian is so strong and they spend weeks just talking and getting to know each other. The more she learns about Ian, the more she falls. And her walls are falling with her. Ian has never felt this way before and is he scared that Grace will break his heart.
Unexpected, starts off with a prologue in the future showing an absolutely shattered Ian. All I was thinking was "what the hell did she do to him?!" As we go back and start at their beginning, we are part of a sweet and special friendship and love. Ian might be six years younger at 22, but he acts much more mature.
Just as their relationship blossoms and Ian even starts bonding with her son, Milo, there is a huge twist that I did not see coming till the last minute. It changes everything and shatters the tentative love they have started. But Grace refuses to give up on them. The only question is, has Ian already let go?

Book Review: Moore To Lose (Needing Moore #2) by Julie A. Richman
Well, I'm trying to figure out what best describes how I feel after reading Moore to Lose. I think "holy crap" might sum it up. When I'm going to be reading and reviewing a book, I usually refrain from reading other reviews until after I've read it myself. I want to start with a blank slate. So when I started reading this, I expected it to pick up right where Searching For Moore left off. And it does. But after a brief visit to the present, we are plunged back in time to when Mia fled back to New York. What followed was so far from what I had anticipated for this book.
Mia is starting her sophomore year and is absolutely miserable over what she believes happened with Schooner. We follow her journey through the years between then and now and witness her attempts at relationships, her self destructive behavior and finally properly dealing with her PTSD. To say it is an emotional roller coaster is putting it mildly. Even though I knew that they would eventually reconnect, my heart ached for broken Mia. You want Mia to be able to move on and find love. Her relationships range from dangerous one-night hookups, to a long term disaster and then to something really sweet and loving.
And dammit I was pissed all over again at CJ for screwing everything up, plus at others who you find out helped keep them apart.

Book Review: Drawn Together (Brown Siblings #6) by Lauren Dane
Raven has not had the easiest life. An awful childhood, which included bouncing around the foster system. has left her more than a little broken on the inside. But on the outside, she is a tough as nails, talented tattoo artist. After spending many years basically like a nomad, she has finally started to put some roots down. When Jonah asks her for some tattoo work, she figures they will have some fun in the process.
Jonah is in his 40s, is divorced, has a teenage daughter and is a man who knows what he wants. The minute he meets Raven to discuss his new tattoo, he knows that she is special and he wants to make her his. On the outside he is a wealthy lawyer in an expensive tailored suits. But what is underneath is a dominant, sexy, tattooed alpha male and there is no way Raven can resist him. Nor can I, for that matter, especially with his dirty mouth.
I enjoyed these two characters not just for the dominant sex, which believe me was hot, but also watching them fall in love. And watching Jonah help Raven battle her past and her demons. Although this is the sixth book in the series, it can be read as a stand alone. However, I do wish I had read the others first to fill in some of the background, especially between Raven and Brody.
If another man had said the same thing, in the same bossy tone he's used, she'd have gotten up and left the restaurant. But he wasn't another man. And her pussy seemed to really like it when he got bossy with her. |

"You're really smart." "I am. I'm also really good at eating pussy." |

Book Review: Sing (Songs of Submission #7) by C.D. Reiss #Giveaway
This book was probably my most anticipated new release of the fall. Hell, the entire year! CD Reiss's Songs of Submission series is one I found by accident when book 1, Beg, was free on Amazon a few months ago. I was hooked from the first word and proceeded to buy and read all the available books that same night. Waiting for each book release after that has been sweet agony.
I am going to keep my review short or else I fear I may give away too much. When Resist ended, Jonathan had just collapsed. The story picks up after that point with Jonathan still in the hospital. Let's just say his attempt at suicide as a teenager did some serious damage to his heart. All we can do is wait to see if he can get better. I honestly did not know how it was all going to play out, which kept me on edge the entire time I was reading. Sing is such an emotional finish to this series. I spent most of this book terrified, broken and sobbing and I even had to take a few breaks to gather myself. It was not at all what I expected. It was agonizing and frickin brilliant.
Now that Songs of Submission is over, I literally don't know what to do with myself. This series is hands down my all time favorite and is an absolute must read for any fans of erotica.

Book Review & Tour: Worth the Fight (MMA Fighter #1) by Vi Keeland
MMA fighter stories are quickly becoming some of my favorite books to read. I don't know what it is about them that draws me in. OK, that's a lie, I know exactly what it is. Powerful bodies, tattoos, dominant personalities. Yup, that will do it.
Elle has sort of been dating William for a few years now. He is dependable and predictable and dreadfully boring. Both lawyers, they have a lot in common career wise, but there is no spark between them. And Elle has been OK with that, OK with the safe relationship, until she met Nico.
Former MMA heavyweight champion Nico has not been back in the cage since his last opponent died at his hand. While he still trains as if he is competing, the guilt he is carrying is tearing him apart. Elle knows all about guilt and how it can ruin your life. Her guilt has owned her since she was a child. Can they help each other finally let go and move on?
"But when I finally get you underneath me, I'm definitely not going to treat you like a lady." |

Book Review: Tattered Love (Needle's Kiss #1) by Lola Stark
Scarlett Garcia is a tough, take crap from no one girl with a kick ass 1967 Shelby GT500 Mustang. (Hottest. Car. Ever.) Burned by one too many guys, she is done with trusting them. A little fun is all she wants from a man now. She wasn't expecting her friend's brother to walk into her tattoo shop and mess with everything.
Mace Torres is back from the army for good and his first stop is to see his little brother Tripp. But Tripp's drop dead sexy tattoo artist boss practically knocks him on his ass. Mace is a man who goes after what he wants; and he wants Scarlett. She might be after just a few nights of fun, but Mace wants so much more. Will he be able to break down Scarlett's carefully constructed walls to let his love in?
Besides the super hot car, this book has my most favorite thing: a super hot alpha male. Mace is dominant and sexy but there is also a bit of a sweet side to him. While Scarlett's mind fights his dominance, her body responds to it. Sparks fly when these two come together making for some seriously steamy scenes. I really enjoyed the story and the characters (and the sex) and I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.

Book Review & Tour: Embrace (Evolve #2) by S.E. Hall #Giveaway
At the end of Emerge, Evan had his heart shattered into a million pieces. I have to say that I was team Dane all the way, but I hated seeing Evan hurt. He's a sweet, handsome, true Southern gentleman and I really wanted to see him get his happily ever after.
Embrace begins right where we left off. Evan is not only heartbroken, but understandably angry and bitter. However, the last person I expected him to connect with was the one person I hated: Whitley. I seriously had a WTF moment and at 15% into the book I was very unhappy about Evan and Whitley being friends.
Do you know what one of the marks of a great author is? A great author has the ability to take a character you despise and make you love them by the end of the book. At about the halfway point I actually liked Whitley and was happy they were friends. By the end I was all "Whitely + Evan = True Love Forever!"
