Book Review: Searching for Perfect (Searching For #2) by Jennifer Probst

Nate and Kennedy have more in common than they realize. On the surface, they couldn't look more opposite. He's the nerdy rocket scientist with stains on his shirt and she is the gorgeous co-owner of Kinnections. When she watches Nate crash and burn at one of their speed dating events, she feels compelled to make him her personal project. After all, makeovers are her specialty. Nate knows that a woman like Kennedy would never want to be with him, but that doesn't stop him from wanting her. When she starts to develop feelings of her own, she tries her best to ignore them.

In Searching for Someday, we see Kennedy as the beautiful, sexy woman who prefers to hop from one man to the next. But here we get to see who she truly is under her carefully constructed facade. It is so easy to relate to her as her self image issues are ones that many women share. And Nate? Well I tend to be partial to geek's since I am a bit of one myself. You just know that underneath the ill-fitting clothes and bad hair is a sexy man and damn if I couldn't wait for him to come out.

True to Jennifer Probst's style, Searching for Perfect was filled with easily loveable characters, humor, sexiness and just a fun story. What I really loved about this book was the witty comedy because it didn't just make me chuckle, it had me full out belly laughing. (Just wait till you get to the scene with Nate and Ming. Priceless). When you can make me laugh out loud in one chapter and then pant in another, well then you have a big winner. For those who have read her Marriage to a Billionaire series, we do get brief appearances from all of those happy couples and I loved catching up with them all. I absolutely adored this book and once again cannot wait for more from Jennifer.

Book Review: Make it a Double (Last Call #2) by Sawyer Bennett

When a new Sawyer Bennett book hits my Kindle, you can pretty much count on me being useless until I'm done reading it. The cycle goes something like this:
  1. ARC arrives, start reading immediately.
  2. Read...Read...Read...Done!
  3. Squeal with delight at another fab story.
  4. Weep because I have to wait for the next book
Every. Damn. Time. And I love it.

So...Brody Markham. He was kind of a jerk in Last Call. I mean I know he's been through a lot of crap, but his outburst towards Alyssa shocked me. What was his deal? Why would he judge her like that? I desperately wanted to know these answers and I desperately wanted to see Alyssa break down his walls. After 5 years in prison, Brody is having a hard time reentering society. Hell, just reentering his family. And he certainly doesn't want to be around rich, entitled bitches like Alyssa. Except, that isn't Alyssa at all. Sure she has lots of money and her mother certainly fits that description, but not Alyssa. She's taken a good chunk of her money and used it for the town's animal shelter. She works hard, long hours with little help because she truly loves what she does.

Book Review: Night After Night (Seductive Nights #1) by Lauren Blakely

I have read every single one of Lauren Blakely's books and I have enjoyed them all. But this book right here? This book is my favorite of them all. This book is hot and amazing and just WOW. In First Night, we got a glimpse of how scorching Julia and Clay can be together. However we didn't get to the real meat and potatoes of them and what makes them tick. Night After Night fills in all of those blanks for us as their passionate story continues.

Both Julia and Clay are tainted by their past relationships with each of their exes lying to them throughout their relationships. Unfortunately for Julia, her ex also left her indebted to some unsavory people. She is paying it off slowly but surely but is lying to everyone around her in order to keep them safe. And that now includes Clay too. He can't stand lies and Julia's life is full of them. Between living on opposite coasts and the deceit, how could they possibly make anything work long term?

It is no surprise that the sex in this book is off the charts hot. Sometimes it is dirty and rough and other times it is tender. Mix in a little bondage and dominance and holy hell! You should probably keep some extra panties nearby when reading this.

Book Review: First Night (Seductive Nights #0.5) by Lauren Blakely

First Night is a free prequel novella that gives us a delicious taste of Clay and Julia. Clay is a sexy as hell entertainment lawyer that lives in NYC but is in San Francisco for one night on business. Julia is the bartender that a friend of a friend told him to pay a visit. They end up making each other scream on the bar, in the back of the bar and at his hotel room. Both of them have a dominate side and like to be in control, but also don't mind handing over that control. So what do you get with two dominant lovers who are good at switching it up? Really frickin hot sex, that is what you get.

"I am so glad I walked into your bar tonight, because this is the best night I've had in a long time, and you are quite possibly a perfect woman. So as far as I can see, the only thing that would make it better is you bent over the chair with your ass in the air."

They part ways after their one amazing night together, but it only takes one day for Clay to call Julia and invite her to NYC. They both were only looking for that one night, but maybe they found something more? We'll have to wait for Night After Night to see what happens next but if this novella is any indication of things to come, we can count on it being steamy.  First Night did a great job of setting up the next book and giving us just enough of Clay and Julia to have us anxious for more.

Book Review: Until You're Mine (Mine #2) by K. Langston

I have been itching to get my hands on this book ever since author K. Langston first introduced Archer and Katy to us in her debut novel Because You're Mine.  That is six whole months of building up in my head how amazing Archer was going to be, and thanks to K. and her little teasers, six months of fantasizing about how hot the sex was going to be. And Until You're Mine proved to be everything I knew it would be! I've been dying to sink my teeth into Archer Brooks all this time, and damn was he tasty and worth the wait!

Katy and Archer both have seriously battered hearts. Her two previous boyfriends left her broken and weary to ever give her heart to someone again. Then there is Archer's ex who is the queen mega bitch from hell. It is no wonder he doesn't want to love ever again. I have to give Katy a ton of credit because despite being hurt more than once, she basically says "fuck it" and throws her heart 100% in the ring with Archer. She knows that with her love he can open up again and she is determined to prove that to him. I also love that despite the fact that she has two disapproving jerks for parents, she is not afraid to be herself.

Then, of course, there is Archer. There are so many things that I love about this man, but the best is his deliciously filthy mouth. The man drops more f-bombs than I can count and dammit if i don't love that. But the sexy things he says to Katy? Excuse me while I melt into a puddle on the floor. What's that? You need some examples? Well...if you insist...

Sneak Peek: Make it a Double (Last Call #2) by Sawyer Bennett

SNEAK PEEK EXCERPT

I put the last of my groceries away, fold up the brown paper bags, and tuck them in the space between my refrigerator and the kitchen wall. Turning around, I observe my little studio apartment. I see it all in just a quick glance, because it’s about the size of a postage stamp.

While I just helped Gabby move into Hunter’s house, I certainly didn’t need to ask them to reciprocate the favor. The only things I own are my clothes, and those were gifts to me from my mom. She had taken me out shopping the day after I got home from prison, outfitting me with an entirely new wardrobe. I mean… new as opposed to wearing prison garb for five years. I felt ashamed that my mom had to buy her twenty-eight-year-old son clothes because he didn’t have a dime to his name.

Book Review: Dom Wars Round One & Round Two by Lucian Bane

Round One
Luciane Bane and Tara Reese are both in need of money when they see the add for the reality show competition Dom Wars. Somehow fate brings them together on the audition line and they find themselves as partners as the competition begins. While there is certainly a war going on between them and the other couples, there is also a battle going on between the two of them. Can these two dominate individuals find a way to be submissive as well in order to win?

This is definitely different than other BDSM books that I have read. And Lucian Bane isn't anything like the previous Doms I've read about either. So many ladies were saying great things about this serial so I just had to give it a try! I will say it started off a bit slow for me but it picked up as the story went on and soon I was 100% invested. There is something about Lucian that just tugs at my heart. Like the way he hates inflicting pain on Tara, to the point that it noticeably hurts him to do so. Of course there are things about him that tug at other parts of my body as well. (see favorite quotes). Tara, however, annoyed and infuriated me. Repeatedly. Clearly she has her own demons to battle and I am trying really hard to be sympathetic to that. I don't see how with her attitude they can possible win this entire thing, but I can't wait to find out.

Book Review: Throttle Me (Men of Inked #1) by Chelle Bliss

I am such a sucker for good girl meets bad boy romance. What first drew me to read this book was the title. I mean, Throttle Me just screams amazingly hot and rough sex and I am all about that! Yes please and thank you.

So Suzy is your typical good girl: school teacher, doesn't swear and has a plan outlines for her future. And that plan does not include tattooed, motorcycle riding bad boys. If you ask me, her plan sucks. City is a tattoo artist covered in ink and piercings and he is drawn to Suzy's innocence. he loves that she is a good girl but knows that there is a dirty side of her hiding under the surface. And he is just the guy to bring it out. To corrupt her. What starts out as just one night of passion turns into days and then weeks. But can Suzy stop over thinking and just see where this thing with City goes? And can City open his heart to love again after having it shattered once before?
