Book Review: Far Too Tempting by Lauren Blakely

Jane Black has spent years struggling as an indie music artist. But now she has finally found success with her third album. An album fueled by the pain of her husband leaving her. For another man. Ouch. After spending seven years in love with a man who never felt the same way for her, she no longer trusts herself. Or men.

Matthew Harrigan is a sexy, British music critic that Jane can't help notice and appreciate. But she's not going down that road again. She needs to focus on writing her next album and finding her elusive muse. But when he asks for an exclusive interview, she realizes he may have similar feelings for her. Or is she wrong again? Is he just using her for a story? Her self doubt gets in the way of not only their relationship but her son writing. She needs to get out of her own way, and out of her head. Can she get passed what happened to her marriage and learn to trust again?

“If you’re not going to do the story with me, then one, I need to drown my sorrows, and two, I don’t have to hold out any longer. So let me take you to Simone’s around the corner, since the owner’s my best mate; it’s right near Roseland, and I can do some of those things I promised I’d do in all those e-mails you were supposed to erase. Then we’ll get you to the club in time for your show, and hopefully if I’m doing it right, you’ll be ridiculously fucking turned on while you’re singing, and I will at the very least have the pleasure of watching you perform and knowing I brought you to that state."

I always enjoy Lauren Blakely's novels and Far Too Tempting is the right at the top of my favorites from her along with Playing With Her Heart. All rock star novels I have read in the past have the male lead as the rocker. It was a very nice change to  have the woman be the rock star for once. I liked Jane a lot because not only was she ultra cool and talented, but she is also a down to Earth woman and kick ass single mom.

And Matthew? Sigh. I have two words for you: British accent. Picturing him all handsome with that sexy accent playing in my head while I read was fantastic. So yeah, I definitely recommend this book!

“I’m going to tell you something about straight men,” he says, and then he swallows. “When you’re into a woman, and she says she wants to give you a blow job, there’s never any answer but yes. And now. And let me go hail a fucking cab immediately.”

Book Blurb:
Jane Black has written the breakup album of the century, earning her a Grammy, a huge legion of new fans, and the pressure to repeat her success. Sure, the heartbreak from her husband’s unconventional abandonment might have been her inspiration, but it hasn’t done her any favors in the dating department. So when Matthew Harrigan, the toughest music journalist out there, asks for an interview, Jane agrees—as long as her personal life is completely off-limits.

British, gorgeous, and way too tempting, Matthew’s the first guy Jane’s been attracted to since her husband. As she spends more time with him and their relationship heats up, though, so does her writer’s block. How can the queen of the break up pen the perfect follow-up when she’s seriously in love?
