Book Review: 21 Stolen Kisses by Lauren Blakely #Giveaway

Eight years separate Kennedy and Noah. It doesn't seem like all that much really, except that she is only seventeen. And he is her mother's agent and best friend. So yeah, kind of a big deal and it means everything about their relationship is forbidden. They've tried to stay away from each other, but it is impossible. With Kennedy's eighteenth birthday getting closer, they hold onto hope that their relationship will work. But how could it?

We all know that Lauren Blakely gives us fabulous and super steamy erotic romance, so sometimes I forget that she can also write the hell out of emotional new adult romance as well. This is not erotic in any way, though their is plenty of sexual tension. This book was very sweet but also heart wrenching and just a great read. I loved both of these characters, especially Noah. It is so  refreshing to read about a sweet guy that  makes you swoon for a change. He was wonderful to Kennedy and had no problem expressing his love for her. Mot importantly I think was his patience.

Kennedy is mature well beyond her seventeen years and it is easy to see why they fell for each other. I wish i had that much poise at that age. Then there is her mother - gah, her mother - I wanted to punch that woman in the throat. What is it with you Lauren and writing wretched moms into these books? She should go hang with Harley's mom from the No Regrets series, they seem like the would be great friends. I seriously loathe them both. {insert lots of evil words here}

If you are use to Lauren's naughtier work, this is definitely much different but it is also wonderful and emotional and it will completely suck you in. I enjoyed the alternating point of view between Kennedy and Noah and I loved Kennedy's notes about kisses, they were such a perfect addition to the story that gave it even more depth.

Favorite Quotes
Everything fits, especially me with him, and him with me. He is the puzzle piece that slides into place in my hart, filling all the sad and empty spots inside me.

"Can I give you a stolen kiss, K?"
"You don't have to steal it, because I'll give it to you freely."
"Then I'll take what you're offering."

My story is simple. It's not complicated. It's not unusual. I'm just a guy who's in love with a girl.

Excerpt
He inhales sharply. The look in his eyes says we’re crossing into the danger zone again. It’s the only place I want to be with him. Because when we’re there, nothing between us feels dangerous. Everything feels right.

“I turn eighteen in a few more weeks,” I say, like my birthday is an open invitation for us to slam back into each other.

He nods. “I know.”

A breeze blow by and rustles his hair. A lock falls out of place. Instinct takes over. I raise my hand to reach for his hair.

But he’s faster. He grasps my wrist, and the second he does, the moment expands. It stretches and unfolds into the thing I will replay tonight and tomorrow and the next day. I stare at his hand clasped around my wrist, flashing back to all the times he held my hand, touched my wrist, and ran his fingers along my arm. I shiver as the memories collide, the past slamming into the present.

I look up from our hands to his eyes. Blazing, full of heat. Full of all that restraint from him that I know so well.

When I first met him I resisted.
Like any forbidden love, I told myself he was a crush, and it would pass.
That was a lie. It never faded.

And I never expected he would fall for me just as hard.

There were so many reasons that should have kept us apart, least of all, the decade that separated us. Growing up in New York City, I learned early on that love is a double-edged sword. Love broke up my parents, love took away my friends, and love — the big, intense, never-been-like-this-before love — landed me in therapy. Now I’m heading to college, and it’s time to give love a clean slate again. But, can I really start over when he’s still in my life Because the one man I’ve always wanted, is also the only guy I absolutely can’t have…And he wants me just as fiercely.

Can I settle for anything less than the love of my life?
