Book Review: UnRaveled by K. Bromberg

So nearly two months after reading this I am finally getting around to writing my review. Procrastinate much? Yup, that's me. Right, let's get on with it then! ;)

Apparently, people really had their panties in a twist about this novella, causing the Bend Anthology to be banned on Amazon, and I just don't get why. It clearly states that this is a dark erotic story, so what did people expect?

This is a captive/captor tale with an interesting twist. Is it dark? Yes. Is it fucked up? yes. And is it perfectly written? Hell yes! K. Bromberg did a fantastic job with this one. I felt just as conflicted as the heroine did. I felt her guilt. I felt her arousal. I felt her everything. Now the twist didn't surprise me at all, but for a few  minutes there I thought I might have speculated wrong. Bravo to K. for a brilliant dark novella. No this story isn't for everyone, but if you enjoy darker stories and can handle the non-consensual sex, then give it a try!

Book Review: Whiter Than White by G.G. Carver

Elena White is quietly moving through her mundane life, stuck in the perpetual London rat race. Her job is meh, her boss is a mega bitch and she has no social life whatsoever. But a chance meeting with an old school acquaintance starts to change everything. Jasmine suggests she does something completely out of her comfort zone and join a ridiculous online dating service. While her first dating experience is a complete disaster, it leads her to Conrad Bailey. Conrad is gorgeous, sweet and sexy but has his own slew of issues he is dealing with. Can a few nights of passion turn into something more between them?

I love books that are set in London. Perhaps because I have never been there and I like to imagine the city in my mind. And I do adore those delicious British accents. Whiter than White sucked me in from the get go. Let me explain what happened:
  • 8:00am - I start reading at the bus stop
  • 8:15am - My boys get on the bus and I head back to the house. Once the car is off and I am all alone in the cool, quiet garage, I decide to sit and read for a few minutes.
  • 10:45am - That's right, I said 10:45!! I spent 2.5 hours completely immersed in Elena's story and totally oblivious to time or the rest of the world. Or the fact that I was still sitting in my minivan.

Book Review: In Your Corner (Redemption #2) by Sarah Castille

Amanda has always done things on her own. Growing up with parents who hardly paid her any attention and were disappointed with everything she did has made her independent to a fault. She won't ask for help and she certainly won't let anyone all the way into her heart. That's why she lost Jake two years ago.

Jake's world has gotten considerably more difficult since his split with Amanda. He lost his brother and now he's running the family business in hopes he can finally make his parents proud. This also means he stopped his MMA training at Redemption. Needing legal help results in chance meeting between the two after not speaking to each other for nearly two years. Seeing Amanda has Jake wanting her all over again. He wasn't able to break through the walls built around her heart the first time around; does he have the strength to fight for her all over again?

I absolutely loved the first book in this series, Against the Ropes, so I could not wait to read this one. It can be read on its own, but reading book one will enhance it and I highly recommend it. I love a sexy, smutty, MMA romance and Jake (a.k.a. Renegade) did not disappoint.
