Book Review: In Your Corner (Redemption #2) by Sarah Castille

Amanda has always done things on her own. Growing up with parents who hardly paid her any attention and were disappointed with everything she did has made her independent to a fault. She won't ask for help and she certainly won't let anyone all the way into her heart. That's why she lost Jake two years ago.

Jake's world has gotten considerably more difficult since his split with Amanda. He lost his brother and now he's running the family business in hopes he can finally make his parents proud. This also means he stopped his MMA training at Redemption. Needing legal help results in chance meeting between the two after not speaking to each other for nearly two years. Seeing Amanda has Jake wanting her all over again. He wasn't able to break through the walls built around her heart the first time around; does he have the strength to fight for her all over again?

I absolutely loved the first book in this series, Against the Ropes, so I could not wait to read this one. It can be read on its own, but reading book one will enhance it and I highly recommend it. I love a sexy, smutty, MMA romance and Jake (a.k.a. Renegade) did not disappoint.

Amanda is a somewhat frustrating heroine. I understand why she is the way she is with her less than stellar parents. Seriously, I want to punch her father in the throat. Nothing she does will ever be good enough for that man and wish she would just live for herself and not try so hard to make him proud. It's just not gonna happen. I so wanted to shake some sense into that girl sometimes. To tell her there is nothing wrong with asking her friends for help or letting herself love someone completely. As a result, even though her and Jake are attempting to give this another go, she still keeps a part of herself locked away from him.

Jake wants nothing more to be with Amanda, for good this time. But he won't settle for anything less than 100% and I don't blame him. He needs her to realize he will always be in her corner backing her up and in return needs the same from her. I loved them together and enjoyed the steamy journey as I waited for Amanda to come to her senses.  I swear there is nothing hotter to me than a dominant, MMA hero and Jake fits the bill perfectly. And one of the things I love about this author is that she is able to seamlessly incorporate a little bit of humor into the story. Hot sex...a little bit of laughter...the perfect blend of what I love for a hot summer book. This was another great read from author Sarah Castille and I look forward to more from her in the future!

Favorite Quotes

"You like fucking my fingers, knowing any moment someone might turn and see what a dirty girl you really are?"

"I want to be your everything," he rasps. "I want all of you, baby. When I make you mine, really mine, there will be no part of you my lips, my hands, my cock won't touch, no desire you have that I will not fill. And when I fuck you, I want nothing between us. No fear. No hesitation. No second thoughts. 'Cause I'm going to be in your head and I'm going to be in your heart and my cock is going to be so deep inside you that you know nothing but me."

He rules in the ring

Two years ago, Jake and Amanda were going hot and heavy. But when Jake wanted more, Amanda walked away. Jake immersed himself in mixed martial arts, living life on the edge. But that didn't dull the pain of Amanda's rejection-until a chance encounter throws them together.

A high-powered lawyer, Amanda was a no-strings-attached kind of girl. But two years after her breakup with Jake, she still hasn't found anyone who gets her heart pumping the way he did. And then he shows up in her boardroom, hot as sin and needing help...

But can he rule her heart?

Jake is darker, sexier, and impossible to resist. As their chemistry builds, Amanda's not sure if she can stay in control, or if she's finally willing to let him claim her body and soul.
