Book Review: Pieces For You (For You #2) by Genna Rulon

Samantha (Sam) Whitney was the victim of a brutal rape and beating at the hands of a sociopath.. Nearly six months later, she needs to learn how to move from just surviving to living again. Sam knows she will never be the same girl that she was before the attack, but she hopes the new Sam can be just as good. Griffin Evenson has loved Sam from a distance for two years, but he was waiting to make his move. His biggest regret was not going for her sooner therefor not  being able to protect her. He vows to never let anything happen to her again while taking his time building a relationship with Sam.

While Same never thought of him as more than a friend, it is pretty hard to ignore the new, bulked up Griffin. The connection they have is sweet and intense but so much more than physical attraction. And most importantly, Sam trusts Griffin, which isn't an easy thing for her. But as she picks up the pieces of her life and tries to glue them back together, will she be able to let a man all the way into her heart? Does she even think she deserves it?

I already loved Griffin by the end of the first book. He was my unsung hero who also happens to be a hot, guitar playing, singing sweetheart. It was obvious even then how much he cared for Sam. Then Genna Rulon had to go and make him even hotter. The months that Sam was away, Griffin spent taking his frustration out at the gym. So now he is a massive, 8-pack toting, guitar playing sweetheart. Is she trying to kill me? Seriously, all that is missing is a sexy tattoo and I would have hopped on the train to New York searching for Griffin to keep for myself. He is beyond patient with Sam as she tries to rebuild herself and takes things slow for her.

Sam develops equally strong feelings for Griffin, but she is still struggling with self doubt and trust. Not to mention navigating life trying to avoid triggers that will set off her fears. Sam is such a strong girl and even though she's been to hell and back, she doesn't give up. I love that her sass, snarkiness and oversharing came back full force, which kept me laughing. Everyone should have a best friend like Sam.

The underlying threat throughout added a nice layer of suspense. I liked that we knew it was out there, guessing who what and when, but it didn't overshadow the rest of the story. Pieces For You was another stellar novel from author Genna Rulon and I hope there is much more to come.

While the books in this series can be read as stand alone novels, I strongly suggest that you read them in order, starting with Only For You which is Everleigh's and Hunter's story.

Marianna's Rating:

**I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

He smelled so damn good, clean with a hint of masculine sweat, a temptation I couldn’t resist. Beyond my control, my tongue darted out of my mouth and covertly tasted the section of chest exposed above his tank. Oh God, he tasted even better than he smelled, like a chocolate-covered pretzel—sweet, salty, and addictive.

“Did you just…lick me?” he asked, sounding both shocked and amused.

“I have no idea what you’re talking about.”

“You licked me. I felt it,” he accused, but I noticed he wasn’t complaining.

“Your imagination is running wild because of all the workout endorphins.”

“It wasn’t a complaint. In fact, you’re welcome to have another taste.”

“Fine…I licked you. But it was an involuntary reflex—hot guy, exposed chest…you know how it is.”

“Mmm,” he replied, his eyes darkening with lust. “I am familiar with the temptation, but it’s not a hot guy who’s testing my self-control…it’s a petite, auburn-haired vixen.”
