I have absolutely NO IDEA what is really going on but hell, I love it! We pick up right where we left off in book one with a sadistic serial killer on the loose and anyone could be him. One of my suspects has been cleared, but a new character has come into play and now I am torn in so many directions. When I say the killer could be anyone one, I literally mean ANYONE!
I didn't think it was possible to get sucked into the story even more, but I did. This second installment was even better than the first, which is saying a whole lot. Once I started it I could not stop. I'm not even sure that I blinked. it held me captive and at the edge of my seat waiting to see what happened next and looking for clues. And then mixed in with the suspense and guessing who it is, there is Colton. Sigh. Colton is amazing. The book alternates between Sadie's, Colton's and the killer's point of view and being inside of Colton's mind is my favorite. He is so intense and passionate and when he unleashes all of that on Sadies? GAH! Hot does not even begin to describe it
We get one secret revealed near the end and it shocked me pretty hard. While it eliminated one person as the killer, it opened up a slew of more questions and possibilities. Once again I am left with my suspicions but nothing solid to go on. I just know though that when the killer is finally revealed, it wont be anyone I was expecting. This book was brilliantly written and I'm a bit in awe of Ms. Wolfe. I also feel sorry for her because now I'll be stalking her until book three is out. Sorry! #SorryNotSorry
Note: This series MUST be read in order
When you’ve stared fear right in the eyes, when you’ve tasted bitter despair, you don’t function within the bright, mundane world any longer. Our relationship operates on a different level of rules and trust. We’re not blind in the dark; we seek it out. We crave it. And I’ve never craved anything or anyone as much as I crave Sadie right now. I need my goddess to exonerate me.
“He gets me. Maybe not in the traditional sense…but he’s able to look beneath my cover and see the girl I once was, and the woman I want to be. He sees only the best of me, not what I outwardly project to the world, the things we only want others to see—but the real, damaged, unperfected me. And to him, I’m beautiful.”
The only place I want to be is with Sadie. Whether as her lover, her devoted worshiper, or as her prisoner.
“Love between us won’t be beautiful. I know that—I’m not asking for the illusion. I want the raw, unvarnished truth of us. That’s the only way we can be.”
“It’s like you were fashioned just for me.”
“Forged out of pain and suffering.”
“Then I’ll be the one to craft your pleasure.”

The UNSUB has made contact.
After a rapid string of grisly murders shakes the usually peaceful city of Arlington, Virginia, the sadistic killings of young women lull into a deceptive calm. Agent Sadie Bonds knows the terror isn’t over; serial killers don’t stop until caught.
And this sadist has targeted the profiler, revealing pieces of her dark past and weaving her secrets into each gruesome crime scene. Is the killer someone from Sadie’s past, her present? Or is he part of a fated future she brought on herself? The answer lies within the riddle of the copycat killings, ones mimicked after the infamous Blood Countess.
As tension brews in the department awaiting the UNSUB’s next move, Sadie’s more than on edge—her deviant cravings for the possible perpetrator have ratcheted out of control. She needs the feel of Colton’s ropes binding her, sheltering her from stark reality.
Only Colton Reed has his own twisted secrets that threaten to unravel not only Sadie as they come to light, but the UNSUB’s carefully constructed web now entangling both the profiler and her sexy bondage rigger.
Is Sadie too close to this case to be objective, or is the UNSUB closer to her than she ever imagined…
