When Sawyer first introduced Cain at the end of book one, I nearly exploded and I've been dying to read his story ever since. Cain is the head of security at The Wicked Horse as well as a fantasy maker for the dirtier side of the business. And a damn good one. He has no desire to be in a relationship again and this allows him to indulge in endless sex while working towards a good bonus.Sloane is a reporter here only to sniff out a scandalous story on the supposed sex club. However, she did not plan on Cain. At first she thought to use their attraction to get the information she needs for the story. She soon realizes he is someone special and using him is the last thing she wants to do. But what choice does she have? Both are holding back secrets and it is only a matter of time before the truth is out and everything crumbles.
Cain was everything I hoped he would be though he did have some epic assholish moments near the end that made me want to maim him. Of course, Sloane makes her fair share of mistakes as well. Despite their faults, I did truly enjoy both of these characters, both apart as well as together. And yeah there was lots of down and dirty sex involved that was just fantastic. I think this is the angstiest book Ms. Bennett has written thus far, at least for me. I was so damn anxious throughout the entirety just waiting for shit to go bad. The can't sit still, I think I am gonna throw-up and then have a nervous breakdown kind of anxious. But that just made it even better.
In addition to some returning favorite characters from book one, we are introduced to a few new naughty boys in Wicked Lust. It will be interesting to see how book three plays out. Of course, Sawyer gave us a nice taste f that at the end and already has me hooked. Next please!
