Book Review: Crash Into Me (A Heart of Stone #1) by K.M. Scott

Nina Edwards is the lowest man on the totem poll at The Anderson Gallery, an art studio in SoHo. But if she wants to make a career out of her degree, she knows she needs to start at the bottom. Then one night she sees him across the showroom floor: Tristan Stone. He oozes power, wealth and sex and she is lost to him. A tragedy in his past has left him hidden within himself; pretty much all alone and emotionless. When Tristan offers her a dream job, how can she refuse? She can't, but  maybe she should have read her entire contract thoroughly. Now not only is she required to work with him for six months, but also live with him. How will she ever be able to resist him?

There are so many things about Tristan that annoy me. Like the way he immediately shuts down and doesn't let his true feelings for Nina show. Which in turn hurts her over and over again. Lucky for him, he does have some redeeming qualities. His brooding demeanor can be down right sexy and I understand why Nina can't stay away. As we progress through the story, we do start to realize how much he does care, he just doesn't know how to show it. And it becomes apparent that he is keeping some kind of secret. Will it destroy the tentative romance that they have developed?

The way he was made me crazy. Crazy for him. Crazy because of him. Fucking crazy. He's left this morning without a word or even a gentle brush of his hand against mine to say goodbye, and he's returned wanting nothing but me. What was with this guy? How did he do it? I could barely keep my hands off him, and there were times he stood close enough to touch me and never did. It was maddening. And I loved it.

When the truth comes out in the end, I wasn't completely surprised. However, I was once again disappointed in Tristan. The cliff hanger at the end, though? Now that did surprise me and I'm still not very happy with how things left off with Nina and Tristan. I will definitely need to read book 2 to see what happens next with them.
