Book Review: Star Crossed (Battered Hearts #2) by Kele Moon

Juliet :Jules" Conner is a strong independent woman who also happens to be the only lawyer in town plus a Sheriff's deputy.  As co-owner of Garnet's MMA training center with her brother Wyatt and long time friend Clay, she has also spent considerable time training in the ring. The last thing she expects is to finder herself in bed with their enemy.

Coming off his devastating loss to Clay Powers, Romeo Wellings is beyond frustrated with the people controlling his life. He wishes there was an easy way out for himself and his brothers. After becoming their sole guardian when he was only a teenager, this isn't the life he wanted for them. For one night he puts his problems away when he hooks up with Jules and the sparks fly. One night of incredible passion leads to months of texting, phone calls and video chats. And oh yes, that also means month of really frickin hit phone and video sex! But how can they be together when so many outside forces threaten to keep them apart?

Star Crossed is a modern day Romeo and Juliet story and not just because of their name. Jules' brother Wyatt hates Romeo and Romeo's unsavory associations threaten everything and everyone he cares about. This forces them to keep their relationship a secret for a long time and when the shit hits the fan, they end up running for their lives.

We got a brief taste of both of them in Defying The Odds, but not enough to give me any clue as what to expect here. While I enjoyed the first book, I LOVED Star Crossed! Jules I actually found to be too strong and opinionated at times. To the point where I wanted her to shut up and listen. But that didn't stop me from liking her a whole lot. However, it was Romeo who i down right fell for. There was just so much to love about him. He is so passionate, as us Italians tend to be, and of course ridiculously sexy. I think what really did me in  though is how he switches to speaking Italian when in the throws of passion. It totally makes me want to buy my husband an Italian Rosetta Stone program.

There were also some entertaining co-stars in Romeo's brothers Tino and Nova. Of course we see Clay, Melody and Wyatt here but those Moretti brothers totally stole their thunder. The Italian family dynamic and love between the three of them was sweet and comical. As someone with a large Italian family, it was something I totally related too. Tino, the youngest, was hilarious at time with his boundless energy. While Nova just has this quiet mystery and power about him that makes you want to learn his every detail.

Author Kele Moon definitely stepped it up a few notches for the second book in her Battered Hearts series and the result was a sexy and thrilling ride that I could not stop reading until I was done.

“Yeah, let’s do it again,” she said, barely recognizing the sated hitch in her voice. “This is what I want for Christmas, and I never ask for anything. I wanna listen to you and touch myself till I pass out.”
“Well, that’s convenient.” Romeo gave a husky laugh. “’Cause listening to you come until you pass out is exactly what I asked Santa for.”

“Get off on my fingers.” Romeo breathed against her flushed skin as he started rubbing his palm hard against the folds hiding her clit, making Jules gasp from the dual sensation. “I wanna see you come. Do it for me, and I’ll get you off with my mouth next. You want that, Juliet? You want me to taste and tease you until you’re coming against my lips?”
