Book Review: Almost Bad Boys Series by A.O. Peart

The Almost Bad Boys series are the stories of four feisty twenty-something women who refuse to let their past drag them down. The books in this series should be read in order. They are not stand-alone books.

Almost Matched

Natalie runs a succesful match making business with her best friend Alli, but she has had very little luck with romance herself. No, every guy she has ever dated has been a jerk. Colin has dealt with tragedy and heartbreak in his past, which has left him emotionally battered. For so long he has kept himself from feeling anything for a woman, but that changes when he meets natalie. Can they give their relationship a try without leeting their pasts get in the way?

So the female characters in this book, Natalie and her 3 BFFs, are absolutely hilarious. They've got some crazy antics going on which made me laugh out loud more than once. Colin has got the whole sexy, pantiny melting smirk and a little bit of mystery behind those sad eyes which makes you really want to peel back his layers to find out what he is all about.
I really enjoyed the humor but I would have liked some more sexy times, because yes, I am that horny thankyouverymuch. We don't get to any real steamy scenes till probably 2/3 through the book, which is totally OK, but their first time together was competely skipped over and that left me disappointed. We do end with a bit of a revelation which leaves us with a good amount of anticipation for the next novella.

Title: Almost Matched
Author: A.O. Peart
Series: Almost Bad Boys #1
Genre: Contemporary Romance, Romantic Comedy
Goodreads: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/18346098-almost-matched
Synopsis: Twenty-five-year-old Natalie Davenport lugs substantial baggage. One boyfriend after the next has been a total disaster, leaving Natalie distrustful toward the male population in general. So when Colin Hampton crosses her path, she’s cautious. Her heart (and some other body parts!) nudges her to go for it, while her head wants her to run for the hills.

Colin is one of those gorgeous guys who attract women, no matter the age or marital status. With a successful career at a popular Seattle radio station, hard body, and charming personality, he is the complete package. But something dark lurks in the corners of his soul; some murky experience that has changed him—maybe for the better, but maybe for the worse.

Will he steal her heart and stomp over it like other guys did?

Will she let him into her heavily fortified world despite herself?

Or will they settle somewhere in the middle—establishing the emotional boundaries to protect them from falling in love?

This contemporary romantic comedy blends humor, sensuality, and angst, with zany characters and witty dialogue.

***Warning: contains sexual situations (some quite vivid!), profanity, and a high dose of sarcasm. Oh, and there is a lot of appletini and beer drinking. May not be appropriate for readers under 18 years old. Not intended for prudes and killjoys with no sense of humor***

Almost Broken Up

This book starts off with a flashback in Colin's point of view - bci to the awful night he lost Faith. We learn about the events leading up to her death and the days that followed, showing us how Colin coped with it at the time. He was only 21 so it is no wonder that something so tragic has left such a deep scar. It makes you wonder if he can ever move past the guilt he has been carrying around.

So while we start off on a serious and somber mood, the hilarious ness also contuinues in this installment of Almost Bad Boys as Natalie and Ali find themselves in a ridculous situation involving a giant penis sculpture, a Russian mafia girlfriend, a male escort and a mising cat. Sound crqazy? it is. I mean it is so over the top that you can't help but laugh. We also get a little bit of suspense added here with a mystery stalker and confrontation which gave it an interesting little twist. And of course my favorite: more sexy times with Colin! No real cliffie at the end here, you just want to see how Natalie and Colin's relationship plays out and what other mischief the girls can get into.

This contemporary romantic comedy/mystery blends humor and sensuality with enough thriller elements to make you clutch the pages with terror. The offbeat characters and witty dialogue from Almost Matched are here to stay.

**Warning: contains sexual situations, profanity, and a high dose of sarcasm. Oh, and the appletini is still the drink of choice. May not be appropriate for readers under 18 years old. Not intended for prigs and sourpusses who get easily affronted**

***Almost Broken Up is the second installment in the Almost Bad Boys series, and it comes after book one, Almost Matched. The books in this series should be read in order. They are not stand-alone books***

Almost Too Far

This wacky crew is at it again with their crazy and funny adventures! I don't think anything could top the giant penis sculpture from Almost Broken Up, but there are a few parts in Almost Too Far that are right up there. Here we finally get to meet the two women that raised Colin: his grandma and great-grandma. Which then results in some chaos and a granny-on-the-run scenario. All I will say is that there are missing old ladies, guns and colorful wigs involved.

And I am telling you that Colin get's sexier with each book. As he starts to shed some of that sadness that has held him back in the past, he really starts to let goand open up. As a result, the sex gets hotter too. This was defintely a fun series to read!

When Colin’s feisty great grandma Helga mysteriously disappears, Natalie and the gun-toting Svetlana rush to the rescue. With the help of Russian mafia goons and Natalie’s girlfriends, they get more than they bargained for. Natalie invites trouble into her life all over again. She could find herself questioned by the police, or worse, her relationship with Colin could become rickety once more.

And so the race begins: with grandma Helga on the loose, Colin turns to the police for help, and Natalie is a stiletto heel tip outside of the law. But being in the wrong has never felt so vindicated.
