Book Review: Sweet Filthy Boy (Wild Seasons #1) by Christina Lauren

A sexy new adult novel written by the amazing authors of the Beautiful Bastard series? Yes please!!

Mia and her two besties, Lola and Harlow, have just graduated college and are heading to Vegas for a celebratory weekend. Away from her father's disapproving and overbearing eyes for a few days, Mia wants to take this time to pretend to be everything she wishes she was. Free. When she meets the sexy half French / half American Ansel, he brings out a side of her no one has ever seen. She talks to him about everything, opens up about her deepest insecurities and can't help but to get swept up in his charming dimples. When he asks her to spend the summer in Paris with him, she knows it is crazy and she shouldn't do it. But the future her father has planned looms in front of her and she knows this is her last chance to grasp some freedom, if only for just a few weeks. But what happens when her time in Paris is up?

I really liked both of these characters a lot. Mia has some insecurities that were very relatable to me and I loved seeing her slowly breaking out of her shell. And Ansel...well, what's not to love? He's hot, he's super sweet and has a French accent. And yes I was totally imagining him whispering French into my ear. Sigh.

Their time in Paris is not perfect. They are basically strangers and getting to know each other is a bit awkward. Ansel also works crazy long hours which doesn't help at all. They do start to find their groove eventually, and once they do it is sweet and delicious. But of course there are more road bumps ahead. Mia realizes that she can't live in this fairytale forever and eventually she will have to face her future and her father.

Sweet Filthy Boy was a very enjoyable read for me. It was sweet and fun and yummy! The sexiness was pretty mild compared to the Beautiful Bastard series, but it did get hotter as the story progressed. I gave it four stars because I was slightly disappointed by the ending. I liked what happened but it left me wanting more. There just wasn't enough closure for me and I would have loved an epilogue set a bit in the future to wrap it up nicely. Of course, it is very possible that there will be more Mia and Ansel in future Wild Seasons books so I'll just have to wait and see. If you are a fan of New Adult romances or the Beautiful Bastard series or sexy European hotties then you will want to read this book a try!

One-night stands are supposed to be with someone convenient, or wickedly persuasive, or regrettable. They aren’t supposed to be with someone like him.

But after a crazy Vegas weekend celebrating her college graduation—and terrified of the future path she knows is a cop-out—Mia Holland makes the wildest decision of her life: follow Ansel Guillaume—her sweet, filthy fling—to France for the summer and just…play.

When feelings begin to develop behind the provocative roles they take on, and their temporary masquerade adventures begin to feel real, Mia will have to decide if she belongs in the life she left because it was all wrong, or in the strange new one that seems worlds away.
