Book Review: The Morning After (Morning #1) by Adriane Leigh

Georgia and Kyle have been together forever. Since they were twelve years old, to be exact, and he was the only person able to break her away from her pain. But now their relationship feels off. Needing something, though she hasn't a clue as to what really, Georgia buys a beach house in North Carolina, where she is going to spend her summer. Not to be away from Kyle, she wishes he would join her, but works keeps him away and in D.C. As usual. She convinces her best friends Drew and Silas to join her though and she is looking forward to quality time with her besties and redecorating her dream home. However, Drew brings some unanticipated guests along with her in the form of her boyfriend and Gavin and his best friend Tristan. Tristan with his slightly too long golden hair, piercing green eyes and panty melting smirk. He is the definition of manwhore, but that doesn't stop the attraction. But Georgia needs to stop thinking about him. She needs to stop lusting after him every time he walks into the room. And she really needs to stop kissing him. Her life and future are with Kyle. Aren't they?

Now, I'm not new to Adriane Leigh's work. I read and very much enjoyed both Wild and Ridge. But this book? This book blew. me. away. Yes it is very sexy but it was also extremely emotional. I'll worn you now that if you have issues reading books that contain cheating, this might not be for you. Although I would strongly urge you to give it a shot anyway.

Georgia is pretty broken inside and has always counted on Kyle for everything. But without realizing it, something in their relationship has shifted. Or maybe something in her is finally waking up. I have to say, as the book went on and the more I saw how Kyle treated Georgia, I liked him less and less. In fact, by the end I was pretty darn close to hating him. So that probably made the cheating a lot easier for me to swallow. I wanted Georgia to be truly happy and I just didn't see that happening with him when it is clear he will always put himself first, his job second and then she gets whatever is left over. Which isn't all that much. Eff that.
Then there is Tristan. He's just....well, he's just Tristan. So sexy and delectable and he doesn't give a damn about Kyle. He wants Georgia for himself and he will spend the summer showing her that. He certainly isn't perfect either (manwhore), but his feelings for her are very clear and I so badly wanted them to find their happily ever after together. Adriane kept me waiting till the very last sentence to see if that could happen and I shed a lot of tears along the way. This does not end on a cliffy, however it is clear that Georgia and Tristan's journey is far from over. I am looking forward to reading the next book, Light in Morning, albeit slightly nervous, to see what is in store next for this couple. Nothing has been easy for them so far and I don't expect it to get any easier. Bottom line - I LOVED THIS BOOK.

Favorite Quotes

"It's okay, Georgia. If you're not ready, I won't force you. But I'm going to spend the entire summer helping you come to the realization that you want me too."

"You just need to say the word, Georgia, and I'll show you how good it can be. I can make you forget him. I can make you forget everything if you just let me. I would slide in slowly, your back would arch, your breathing would hitch."

"I only want my scent on you."

From Adriane Leigh comes a passionately evocative story about wanting what's forbidden and giving in to desire so sharp and sweet it threatens to consume...

Georgia Montgomery lives in an ever-present state of denial.
It's the only coping mechanism she's found to overcome the horror that colors her past.

Until one pleasure-seeking playboy turns her world on its axis.
Georgia tries to ignore the tornado of emotion that sweeps through her system whenever Tristan is near, but just like an addiction, one look, one taste, one touch is never enough.

And then there's Kyle, the doting boyfriend she's left at home for the summer, the one she gave her heart to when she was twelve, the one that holds her fragile love in his strong and steady hands.
What was once comfortable turns unbearable, and soon Georgia finds herself fantasizing about the forbidden.

The chemistry between Tristan and Georgia is scorching and it isn't long before the slow burn ignites into a full-blown wildfire that threatens to consume anything in its path.

Denial is comfortable.
Love is anything but.
