Book Review: Forsaken (The Secret Life of Amy Bensen #3) by Lisa Renee Jones #Giveaway

Before you dive into this book, I highly recommend reading the previous two in the series first. Technically they might not be required, but I think you will have a better understanding of things if you do. As it was, it had been so long since I myself had read them that it took me a chapter or two for my brain to kick in and remember where we left off. Quickly I was reminded of how perfectly Lisa combines edge of you seat suspense with panty melting sexiness and I was sucked right back into the story.

Chad doesn't trust anyone, and given his past, you really can't blame him. Now he is in a race to get to his sister before the evil he is responsible for gets to her first. Enter Gia. She helps him escape but why? What are her true motives? Chad doesn't want to trust her; he can't afford to. But he is given little choice if he wants to save his sister and get the revenge his soul craves.

I have to say that Ms. Jones did a fabulous job of keeping me guessing at who was on Chad's side and who could be betraying him. Had he been trusting the wrong people all these years or was the newcomer to blame? I had my suspicions but they kind of wavered back and forth for most of the book. It was clear Gia wasn't telling him the whole truth and I was dying to find out what all of her story was.

Book Review: My Hunger (Inside Out #3.2) by Lisa Renee Jones

It has been quite a while since I've been in Lisa's Inside Out world and I almost forgot how much I love it! And these novellas from Mark Compton's point of view are probably my favorites. After 3 full length novels and watching Mark through Sara's eyes, it is wonderful to get a glimpse into this complex, dominant man's mind.

He is still reeling from Ava's confessions, the upcoming trial and his mother's illness. Plus  now he has this Crystal issue. He shouldn't want her. She is the opposite of submissive in every way. But he can't stay away from her, or out of her for that matter.

This brief novella did an excellent job of sucking me back into this world and making me ravenous for the next novel, No In Between. I am nervous for this trial and anxious for the outcome and I can't wait to see how it all unfolds.

I do not do spontaneous, out-of-control sex. I do planned Master and submissive encounters. I do contracts. I do it my way.

Book Review: His Secrets (Inside Out #3.1) by Lisa Renee Jones

Finally! FINALLY! After 3 full length novels from Sara's point of view, we get a tiny little peek into Chris' mind. I've loved Chris since the moment we met him so this was a special treat for me. His Secrets take places right after the events in Revealing Us. Sara and Chris are about to head back to the U.S. for Ava's trial, but first they have to deal with the disaster that is Amber. And they have to do it together to prove that they can move froward.

There are some crazy things that go down and we see how Chris wants to protect Sara from it all, but he realizes she needs to know everything. Sara is so strong standing  by his side through all of it. We also are treated to a couple of sizzling sex scenes, but I could have a used a few more! I mean, this is Chrism Merit we are talking about here - bring on the sex! ;)

Seriously though, this was a good companion novella to the Inside Out series and gives much wanted insight to Chris. Fans of this series definitely need to read it.

The two of us are all kinds of fucked up that somehow equals perfect.

Book Review: Infinite Possibilities (The Secret Life of Amy Bensen #2) by Lisa Renee Jones

Infinite Possibilities picks up where Escaping Reality left off - Amy has just overheard Liam and Derrek having a discussion about her and it did not sound good. it sounds like Liam is keeping secrets from her and isn't who he says he is. Is he one of the "bad guys" she has spent her life hiding from? We don't get a chance to find out as Amy does what she does best: she runs. But she's delusional if she really thinks Liam will let her go that easily. When he catches up with her, will we find out what that discussion was about and what his true intentions are?

Once again, Lisa Renee Jones weaves an excellent web of deceit, suspense and super hot sex. I almost forgot how delicious Liam was since I read book one, but there is no way I am forgetting tat now. He is passionate and possessive and alpha all the way. And I  love it! Although Liam denies any involvement in Amy's past and says he is just trying to protect her, I was left questioning him through most of the book. The author did a great job of keeping a mysterious air about him, not allowing yourself to fully trust Liam 100%.

As Amy's blackouts/flashbacks become more frequent, she starts to put together the pieces of the puzzle that make up her past. She remember more about suspicious interactions with her family and more of what happened the night of the fire. As it all starts to slowly come together I kept wondering just what in the hell her family was involved in!

Book Review: Revealing Us (Inside Out #3) by Lisa Renee Jones

It really goes without saying that I liked this book. After all, it is written by Lisa Renee Jones and I am a total fangirl. However I was a little bit sad as I started Revealing Us knowing that Sara's and Chris's story would be coming to an end. Or is it...

Revealing Us picks up where Being Me left off. After Sara is attacked and everyone finds out what happened to Rebecca, Chris and Sara set out to Paris. They need to confront his past, which he fears will drive Sara away, and to find her missing friend Ella. And when we are talking about Chris's past, you know some of that is going to consist of past women. Jealous, jaded and still pining over Chris after all of these years women. I really felt for Sara as she tried to deal with a certain woman and her crap. She handled herself well although she was way too nice at some points.

Chris is still his usual quiet, intense self. And yes, it is still sexy as hell. You can see that he really is trying to make an effort to open up more to Sara and there is no doubt that he loves her. He can be sweet and tender when warranted but than can go right to dominant in a heartbeat and pushes Sara's to new limits. Delicious new limits.

Book Review: Master Undone (Inside Out #2.5) by Lisa Renee Jones

Finally! After 2 full length novels and 4 novellas, we finally get inside of Mark Compton's head! Master Undone is a short novella in the Inside Out series by Lisa Renee Jones and it occurs the day after Being Me ends. After discovering what has happened to his last submissive, Rebecca, Mark's mind is reeling. He blames himself and vows not to get close to anyone again. Flying to new York to deal with a family emergency, Mark meets Crystal Smith, who works for his mother. Crystal is the exact opposite of what he normally likes: she's blonde, alpha and absolutely not submissive. Yet he finds himself incredibly turned on by her.

"...my blood pumps faster, just thinking about having her naked and willingly at my mercy. I can’t help but think she’s exactly what I need: a challenge. And how sweet her submission would be, because I’d really earned it."

He has never needed a woman before, but right now he needs Crystal. He fights an internal war within his head to stay away from her. Which side will win?

I must admit that I was annoyed with mark in Being Me because of the way he tried to get between Sara and Chris. But this novella and little peek at Mark's thoughts quickly erased that. My only complaint is that this was way too short and it left me wanting more! I really hope there is another Mark POV novella in the near future to continue with this story line.

Book Review: Escaping Reality (The Secret Life of Amy Bensen) by Lisa Renee Jones

Oh, Ms. Jones; how you torment me so with your cliffhangers. Sigh. Being that I have read Lisa Renee Jones' Tall, Dark & Deadly series and the Inside Out series, I'm a big fan and familiar with her writing style. So yes, I totally expected there to be a cliffhanger at the end of Escaping Reality. But damn if I'm still not all flustered by it.

No one knows who Amy Bensen really is, least of all Amy herself. Something happened when she was 18 that completely threw her life off course; causing her to run across the country with a new identity. And although she knows what happened, she can't remember all of the details of how it happened. Or why exactly she is in hiding or who she is hiding from. Now, her past has caught up with her, sending her on the run once again. On her plane ride out of town, fate lands her in the seat next to sexy billionaire Liam Stone.  They are immediately drawn to each other but Amy holds back knowing that getting close to someone puts both herself and them in danger. But Liam is relentless and refuses to let her walk out of his life.
