Butterfly in Frost by Sylvia Day

From #1 New York Times bestselling phenomenon Sylvia Day comes a hotly anticipated and passionate new love story.

Once, I would never have imagined myself here. But I’m settled now. In a place I love, in a home I renovated, spending time with new friends I adore, and working a job that fulfills me. I am reconciling the past and laying the groundwork for the future.

Then Garrett Frost moves in next door.

He’s obstinate and too bold, a raging force of nature that disrupts the careful order of my life. I recognize the ghosts that haunt him, the torment driving him. Garrett would be risky in any form, but wounded, he’s far more dangerous. I fear I’m too fragile for the storm raging inside him, too delicate to withstand the pain that buffets him. But he’s too determined…and too tempting.

And sometimes hope soars above even the iciest desolation.

Emotional and heartrending, Butterfly in Frost marks a brilliant return by global sensation Sylvia Day, the #1 international multimillion bestselling author of the Crossfire saga.

Book Review: Afterburn by Sylvia Day

We all know and love Sylvia Day's Crossfire Series and Afterburn is another hot read by this author! Gianna Rossi thought she had moved on from the heartbreak that Jackson Rutledge caused her a year ago when he walked away without a word. She has built a successful career for herslef and things are going well. That is until Jackson shows up for a business meeting she is in with her boss and she realizes that she is still in love with him. The chemistry between them is just as hot as ever, but this time around Gia is determined to do things on her terms. Maybe now she can try to figure out why he left her in the first place. And is it possible that he is actually in love with her as well?

This is the first book in a two book series from Cosmo Red-Hot Reads. There is one thing about Gianna that I did not like and that was how she goes to great lengths, i.e. suppressing her Brooklyn accent, to hide who she truly is. Her insecurities lead her to believe that Jax left her because she wasn't polished enough for him and his high society, political family. But is that why he left? Who the heck knows! Jax is a complete mystery to me and I can't figure him out. I mean yeah he is sexy as hell and he just has this presence about him, but he's so good at closing off what is beneath the surface. While we start to see that maybe he does have true feelings for Gia, we are not really any closer to finding out why he bolted in the first place. Or why he still doesn't think they can have something permanent. Gianna is determined to find out what is going on with him and frankly so am I. This is what made me really like her a lot. Now that she is back face to face with him and starts seeing some of the feelings he has been hiding for so long, she is going to dig deeper and push harder.

This book was fast, steamy and intriguing and I am looking forward to book two, Aftershock, and unraveling the mystery that is Jax. The only reason I didn't give this five stars is because I wish it was one longer book instead of two super short ones.

Book Description:
#1 New York Times bestselling author Sylvia Day, America’s premier author of provocative fiction, delivers the debut novel from Cosmo Red-Hot Reads from Harlequin.

The realization that Jax still affected me so strongly was a jagged pill to swallow. He’d only been part of my life for five short weeks two years ago. But now he was back. Walking into a deal I’d worked hard to close. And God, he was magnificent. His eyes were a brown so dark they were nearly black. Thickly lashed, they were relentless in their intensity. Had I really thought they were soft and warm? There was nothing soft about Jackson Rutledge. He was a hard and jaded man, cut from a ruthless cloth.

In that moment I understood how badly I wanted to unravel the mystery of Jax. Bad enough that I didn’t mind how much it was going to cost me...
