Book Review: Professor Cline: Redeemed (The Professor #2) by J.M. La Rocca

This is the second and final book in The Professor series from J.M. La Rocca. You must read book one, Professor Cline: Revealed, first! Secrets will be revealed, questions will finally be answered and lives just may be splintered apart.

I have been anxious to get my greedy hands on this book from the moment I finished the first one. I fell in love with Mason back in Professor Cline: Revealed, with his dominating sexy ways and shattered soul. That love only grew more here. I wanted him to have his wicked way with me, over and over again, and then I just wanted to wrap him up in my arms and hug the fuck out of him. If any man needs a good hug, it's him. My heart broke for all he has endured and for all the pain he has hidden from the world.

Book Review: Professor Cline Revealed (The Professor #1) by J.M. La Rocca

Professor Mason line doesn't do relationships. He uses woman for sex and nothing more. No dating, no emotions, just ruthless, mind blowing release. Law student Emma Blake needs to focus on her studies and stay away from men, but that's kind of hard when you're professor is drop dead gorgeous. Is she up for having some fun with Mason or should she steer clear for him.

The best word to describe how this book made me feel is desperate. Desperate for more hot sexy times (and they were hot) with Mason. Desperate for more information about him, his past, and what made him the way he is now. Clearly he has some issues, he can be a total prick and keeps sending Emma mixed signals, but you there is just so much pain there and I can't hate him for any of it. The author did an excellent job of conveying that and I swear I could feel every ounce of his pain in my own body. I wanted to climb into the book and take it all away for him. Emma is a bit of a pushover at the start but I have a feeling we are going to see her grow a lot by the time the series is over.

Drifting Into Darkness by J.M. La Rocca

Sadie's life is in a bit of an upheaval. Her boyfriend of 6 years broke up with her, her father couldn't keep his pants zipped and has moved their family from Chicago to Texas for a new start. Now she is in a new town, trying to make new friends and in desperate need of a job. When the chance to work on the Johnson Farm presents itself, she jumps on the opportunity. And that is where she meets Landon. Landon works hard on his family's farm because it is what his parents want; but his true passion is cars. Racing them and building them. He doesn't date, but has a harem of bleach blondes following him around town. Sadie has no intention of joining that mob, but she can't help but be attracted to Landon.

Working on the farm together every day helps fuel the connection between these two. For the first time in years, Landon wants to spend time with and get to know a girl. And although Sadie has had her heart broken before, she is willing to risk it again for him.

I truly enjoyed J.M. La Rocca's first two novels, Lifeless and My Beautiful. So I was looking forward to reading this one. It was well written but unfortunately fell short of the mark for me. I just didn't connect as well with the characters or the story. And honestly, I wasn't feeling the connection between Sadie and Land either. I needed something more from them. Then there is the ending. Yeah, I was not a fan. My issue isn't really with what happened at the end, but more of how it happened. It felt abrubpt and with no closure.

While this book and I didn't hit it off, I will still continue to read this author.

Book Review: My Beautiful (Lifeless #2) by J.M. La Rocca

So... 2 mob stories in one week for me! This is so not my norm, but damn I enjoyed them.B ook one, Lifeless, ended with a cliffhanger and this books picks up eight months later. Kade and Scarlett have not seen each other since that lat night in Atlanta 8 month ago. During that time, Scarlett has tried to pick up the pieces of her shattered heart and move on with her life. Meanwhile, Kade has been pretending to be interested in his uncle's mob empire in hopes of finding a way out. When their paths cross again, will he be able to push Scarlett away once more?

Finally Kade and Scarlett are thrown back together and I was glued to my Kindle to see how this would play out. What I really enjoyed about in My Beautiful is that the "misunderstanding" between them is not long and drawn out or overfilled with angst. No, they got to the point and move forward and that was refreshing. The mob aspect adds a layer of suspense and I found myself genuinely intrigued by what would happen next. There is a pretty big twist in here somewhere and it totally caught me off guard. Usually I can somewhat see it coming, but not this time. It left me proud of some characters and incredibly disappointed in others but it all fit perfectly into this story. I would have liked to see a bigger glimpse into their future in the epilogue, but I found this to be a very satisfying conclusion to Kade's and Scarlett's story.

Cover Reveal: My Beautiful by J.M. La Rocca

It has been eight months since Scarlett Moore last saw Kade Evans. After being left hurt and confused she tried to forget about him, but he wasn’t easy to forget. She found herself thinking about him often. Even her best friend Jules did her best to get him off her mind by pushing her toward Bryce, the one person Scarlett was not sure she wanted to be involved with.  When a new job opportunity is offered to her and Jules, they jump on it. The idea of starting over again and forgetting the past is enticing to Scarlett even if it moves her to Los Angeles, the same place Kade lives.

Cover Re-Reveal: Lifeless (Lifeless #1) by J.M. La Rocca

After graduating from the University of South Alabama, Scarlett Moore discovers her boyfriend of five months is actually married with a child on the way. Feeling used and heartbroken, she decides it’s time to take her best friend Jules’ advice to move to Atlanta and live with her. There, Jules helps her get a job at Entertainment Atlanta, where she works as an entertainment insurance agent. It’s not Scarlett’s dream job, but it’s better than not having a job at all, and who would mind working with famous people, right?

Teaser: My Beautiful (Lifeless #2) by J.M. La Rocca

Who is ready for a teaser for the book My Beautiful (Lifeless #2) due out December 2013? If you have read my 5-Star review of Lifeless, you know how much I enjoyed this book. You will also know that there is a pretty big cliffhanger at the end. Author J.M. La Rocca posted the below teaser for the second book on Facebook earlier this week.

As if I wasn't already desperate enough for this book to come out, she goes ahead and teases me with this. I won't giveaway any spoilers for book one, but let me just say that this kind of floored me a little bit. Now I really, REALLY need to read the next book!

Book Review: Lifeless (Lifeless #1) by J.M. La Rocca

One of the things I love about reading, besides escaping into a great story, is discovering new authors. I recently had the chance to read the debut novel from J.M. La Rocca, Lifeless. Now, I love a sexy, alpha male in a book I'm reading, but give me a sexy, tattooed, bad boy, alpha male and I'm a goner. Lifeless is the story of Scarlett and Kade. Scarlett hasn't had the easiest life: her father left when she was 7, her mother is an alcoholic drug addict and she just found out her boyfriend is actually married. To someone else. Looking to start fresh, she moves to Atlanta. This is when bad boy rock star Kade erupts into her world and the chemistry between them is instantly hot.
