Book Review: Mastered (The Enforcers #1) by Maya Banks

I can always count on Maya Banks for a hot dominant hero in her books and Drake Donovan is no exception. Dark, beautiful and beyond wealthy, he can have any woman that he wants. And he does. Often. When Evangeline walks into his nightclub, he can't take his eyes off of her. She doesn't belong in his world with her beautiful innocence, but he must have her.Almost virgin Evangeline doesn't know how she let her girlfriends talk her into going to this sexy nightclub. This is not her. In here eyes, she's just a Plain Jane, but Drake sees something more and she just can't say not to him.

I found Drake to be very mysterious on top of all the sexy, which made him even more alluring. It is clear he does more than just own a nightclub, but we don't get any real clues to what he is. By the end I kind of hated him a little bit (ok, maybe a lot) and I need the next book to see if he can redeem himself.

On the other hand, Evangeline frustrated me a great deal throughout this book. I don't mind a heroine with insecurities, but dear lord I wanted to smack some sense into this one because hers were just too much. But then we ended with her finally growing a set and standing up for herself in a way and I was proud of her for that. I'm hoping to see some more growth from her as we continue on.

Book Review: Burn (Breathless #3) by Maya Banks

In this conclusion of the Breathless Trilogy, we finally get to Ash's story. After reading the first two books, Ash seemed to me to be the most laid back of this trio of hot alpha men. And his friends think he is too. Boy, none of us could have been more wrong. I honestly had no idea that behind his easy going charisma he was hiding an intense Dominant. But trust me, I'm not complaining. It was delicious.

Ash ended up being my favorite of the men in this series but Josie blows the other girls away in my opinion. She is an inspiring artist with incredible talent. Strong with none of that wishy washy crap that can get annoying. What I enjoyed the most of all about Josie was that she is already familiar with a Dom/sub relationship. She is not the inexperienced new submissive that doesn't understand the nuances of this type of relationship. So there is none of that training and "oh I'm nervous I've never done this before" stuff that is prevalent in so many books of this genre. Not that I am necessarily complaining about those because I enjoy them too, it can just get old. Josie knows just what she wants and exactly what she can handle and dives right in. And yeah, Josie and Ash together are on fire.
